ReNuke™ launches as the first staffing company for global nuclear renaissance projects

More than 90,000 new nuclear workers are needed in the next five years. ReNuke’s mission is to help fill the nuclear talent gap.

(Oak Ridge, Tenn.) – An Oak Ridge firm is the first to market with a staffing company built to offer top nuclear professionals and technicians for the global nuclear renaissance. Known as ReNuke, the company’s senior management team brings more than 200 years of combined nuclear industry experience to the marketplace.

“Nuclear industry experts say that more than 90,000 new workers will be required over the next four to five years in order to meet the needs of commercial and government initiatives to accelerate nuclear power development” explains John Coffman, President of ReNuke. “Finding the right professionals to meet the growing need for experienced personnel is one of the greatest challenges to the rebirth of nuclear power. That is why ReNuke is such a valuable tool in identifying and hiring top people for staff augmentation.”

ReNuke’s mission to fuel the nuclear renaissance with top professionals marks a long-term investment in bringing new talent to the nuclear market. Additional innovative efforts to recruit top talent as well as encouraging talented students to enter the field of nuclear engineering and related fields will assure growth in the number of people available through ReNuke to sustain growth through mid-century.

ReNuke is a new company that is the creation of Coffman and Vice President Fred Gardner. The two successful businessmen founded DeNuke in 2002 as a staffing company for the decontamination and decommissioning of nuclear facilities and natural disaster recovery projects. Gardner points out that while the missions are quite different, the fundamental formula for success is the same.  “We are employing the same effective strategies in starting up ReNuke as we did with the parent company – the most important factor is recognizing both companies are all about people – the customers and the employees.  We believe we go above and beyond to take exceptional care of both” says Gardner.

ReNuke launched in January, 2007 and already has more than 250 nuclear professionals with exceptional credentials available for temporary assignment.  “These talented individuals have the experience to meet the challenge” says Gardner. With capabilities ranging from new nuclear fuel design, reactor design, and consolidated operations licensing experts to power  uprate and regulatory compliance specialists for the renewal of existing nuclear power plant licenses, the ReNuke portfolio of talent is an impressive array of both degreed and technical personnel.

“The Global Nuclear Energy Partnership (GNEP) established by Congress in 2005 is a major initiative to develop advanced commercial reactors to meet the world’s growing energy demand,” says Gardner. “That has created massive, high-priority projects for both commercial and government organizations that require some of the industry’s top nuclear talent. ReNuke is a vital conduit to available nuclear professionals and technicians to meet the need to staff these giant projects.”

“The first thing our new clients will note about ReNuke is how quickly we respond to their staffing needs,” explains General Manager Ian Howard “We maintain a cadre of top professionals who literally keep their bags packed for immediate assignments worldwide. Many of our veterans enjoy the challenge of an immediate assignment to one of the world’s most important projects. Our clients appreciate the rapid response force we can deploy in a matter of days and sometimes hours.”

“We offer outstanding compensation and a fresh challenge to those who have the right credentials and team spirit,” says Coffman. “Our years of experience in nuclear staffing have taught us how to evaluate and recruit smart team players in the nuclear business. For our talent, we offer long term support that enhances their desired career path. Many of our people want to make a difference in the rebirth of nuclear energy, so they are eager to contribute as a team member on major projects.”

Government estimates are that the demand for increased electrical power will double between 2000 and 2020. Only nuclear power can meet such a staggering increase in an environmentally responsible manner. Nuclear power plants are thus being re-licensed for additional years of service and their electrical output increased while as many as 35 new nuclear power plants are on the drawing boards. New, more efficient types of commercial nuclear reactors are also being developed to meet the global energy challenge.

With offices in one of the world’s leading research and development centers for the nuclear industry, Oak Ridge, ReNuke will host job fairs for those interested in joining ReNuke’s group of professionals during 2007.
